First United Methodist Church has several opportunities to serve God for those with musical talents.  The Adult Choir, the Youth and Adult Handbells, and the Praise Team are all open to anyone who wishes to serve.

The Adult Choir
This choir, directed by Santhia Collins, is made up of persons college age and older.  They sing at the Traditional Worship Service (8:30 AM) every Sunday and leads the congregation as they worship through song and spoken word. They typically wear robes except in the summer months. Special presentations are a part of their ministry. Each member, music reader or not, is a minister and is committed to presenting their instrument as a gift through rehearsing and being present at the services. No vocal experience and expertise is required. Join the fun!  Contact Santhia at (575)885-3142 or by email at santhia@fumcarlsbad.org.

Youth and Adult Handbells
The more ringers, the better! We can always use more. If you are interested in learning to ring or have previous experience, you are invited to join us as we prepare to minister through the ringing of the Bronze Bells and the Choir Chimes. We play in both services and lead in worship as we present songs, familiar and new. We will participate in special services throughout the year at the church and out in the community.  For more information, contact Santhia Collins at (575)885-3142 or by email at santhia@fumcarlsbad.org.

Praise Team
This team of vocalists and instrumentalists, directed by Gavin Mack, leads worship at the Contemporary Worship Service (10:45 AM) every Sunday. They commit to preparing through rehearsal on Wednesday evenings and being present on Sundays to lead in worship through the music and support the congregation as they begin and/or continue their journey and take their own individual steps to know Christ and His direction for their lives.  For more information contact Gavin at (575)885-3142 or by email at gavin@fumcarlsbad.org.
